With a pragmatic desire to integrate environmental and management considerations, the Mimizan Community of Communes has drawn up a plan over several years for its business development areas. This plan concerns two sites to host your traditional production or industrial businesses.

EcoMateria, ecological-industrial centre (Pontenx-les-Forges)
This 20-hectare site is dedicated to recycling and valorisation of materials. It groups all the conditions indispensable for successful development of a business integrated in the environment: a flat and well-drained accessible area, far from houses, with no sensitive areas nearby and with an existing waste treatment plant in operation. Its sandy soil has an excellent bearing capacity for buildings.

This estate is meant to host all types of businesses, both traditional and industrial. Taking into account of a development over time allows building in several phases and flexibility in the installation.

Environmental quality policy
To create a favourable environment for the development of this centre and go further in anticipating the expectations of companies in meeting regulations, an environmental quality policy has been drawn up. A multiple-criteria approach (water, air, soil, noise, wastes, raw materials, etc.) already from the start integrates the necessary developments to anticipate the potential impact on the environment. With an approach of "coming half the way", the support offered for settling companies is far from negligible: reduction of risks, limited development expenses, facilitated permit for operation. It ensures the first step in the ISO 14001 certification procedure.
