ADSL connection

The Mimizan Community of Communes has been applying a determined policy over the last ten years for the promotion and integration of new information and communication technologies. Because of the achievements on its territory, it has been recognised as the reference among the main Aquitain information services (e.g. the Athena multimedia centre opened in 1994 is one of the very first remote training centres in France - Winner of the Puces de Silicium trophy in 1997).

Taking advantage of this position, the Mimizan Community of Communes has succeeded in deploying broadband access technologies - ADSL link - on a part of its territory. It is now working for a consistent overall network before the end of 2004. Priority is given to the connection of the new business development areas.

By a consistent architecture, this network allows interconnection between different buildings. The business nursery, Sylvicole Valley, offers a high-performance, high-security continuous connection to Internet. It can isolate the networks of the various companies which could be installed there.

The advantages of broadband for companies: faster reception and downloading of files, faster display of web pages, faster reception and transmission of e-mail, known fixed charge and overall reduction of Internet costs with continuous connection to Internet and access to new services.
