The wood integrated chain is in the thick of its data processing phase, particularly the upstream part which is undergoing a regular revolution. A whole range of data processing applications are now available: tools to help wood procurement by mapping forest areas, tracking wood purchases, barcode systems on the logs, on-board software on the mechanised tree-felling machines, remote systems to calculate cubic metres of wood, systems to track the flow of logs from the forest area, geographical information systems, help in simulation of the sawing system, etc.

Encouraged by the success of its promotion and support using information and communication technologies, the Mimizan Community of Communes is ready to contribute actively in helping out entrepreneurs wishing to settle in the area in order to develop new technologies applied to forestry and wood as a material.
